Climate-friendly through the National Park Neusiedler Lake - Seewinkel

25-09-2021

"By bike through the national park - 30 km of experiences on our doorstep" - an informative excursion for cycling enthusiasts

The unique nature around Lake Neusiedl provided the backdrop for "Cycling through the National Park". Around 20 supporters of climate-friendly mobility gathered on this sunny autumn day in Podersdorf to take part in the varied program together. At 10:00 am, provincial councilor Daniela Winkler and the Mayor of Podersdorf, Michaela Wohlfahrt, opened the event with words of welcome. While Ms. Wohlfahrt emphasized the importance of cycling for tourism in the region, provincial councilor Winkler referred in her speech to the importance of cycling for climate protection and pointed out the numerous measures taken by the state of Burgenland.

Led by National Park Director Johannes Ehrenfeldner, the group set off on their bikes to learn interesting facts about the National Park at several stations. The journeys between the stations offered the opportunity to explain questions about future prospects, such as the effects of climate change on the region, with climate and Energy Model Region manager Robert Schitzhofer and the head of the Burgenland Mobility Center, Christine Zopf-Renner. On their return to Podersdorf, all participants received goody bags as a thank you with all sorts of useful things for cycling, which the Burgenland Mobility Center provided as part of the "Low Carb Mobility" project.
