Forum of future professionals on the future of career guidance

Today, the crucial issue of making the most efficient use of renewable energy sources is a major focus. The renewable energy sector in the Austrian-Hungarian border region is facing a serious problem due to the lack of qualified staff to expand, repair and maintain renewable energy sources. Our project with strategic importance, ATHU-0100024 Next GEn, attempts to fill this gap.

On 25 March 2025, our ATHU-0100024 Next GEn project held its first key forum, "Professionals of the future".

After the welcome speeches, four short presentations were given to an audience of mainly professionals. Experts from the Hungary of the Foundation for Wood Science (FATA) presented the main findings of the baseline research carried out in the first period. They shed light on the current situation of the relationship between sustainable development and career guidance from three perspectives.

Research coordinator Martin Zloklikovits introduced us to current research objectives in STEM and new technological developments. After an interesting presentation, the group was introduced to the social aspect of the topic by Barbara Rehling. Her presentation looked at the opportunities and challenges for young women in technical professions in the 21st century and why the industry needs women.

The informative morning session was rounded off with a practice-oriented presentation by Joachim Hacker. Participants were given an insight into the developments, prospects and projects in the field of renewable energies in the region, with a focus on Güssing.
